The team at NAL has worked alongside Cheshire East Council to aid in their implementation of traffic lights at a hazardous junction located on the A530. Stipulating a swift installation to minimise disruption, along with a simplified future maintenance process, the client specified systems developed by NAL, to address their requirements.
Designed to simplify installation and future-proof maintenance of equipment, the client specified the NAL Controller Cabinet Base to house the signal controller cabinet. Eradicating traditional time consuming and costly methods of installation, the system eliminates the adherence to COSSH regulations, due to its absence of a carcinogenic base seal. It also provides improved access to cables via an above ground access door, streamlining the initial cabling process and future maintenance – when compared with historical methods.
NAL Retention Sockets with Duckfoot Bend bases were selected to install traffic signal poles. Designed to secure all types of directly cabled illuminated street furniture, this innovation guarantees a simple removal with a key and spanner, without the need for additional civils work; enabling swift repairs in the event of vehicular impacts. In stark contrast to historical installation processes, all civils works can be completed prior to electrical installation; avoiding inevitable time disputes between contractors.
