Project Description

Traffic Signal Knockdown, City Walls Road, Worcester

City Walls Knockdown

A traffi c signal pole was knocked down in a road traffi c accident in the centre of Worcester and needed to be replaced quickly. The pole and power cable was installed in an NAL Retention Socket enabling a fast and efficient removal and replacement.

With only minimal traffi c management and a two man team the smashed pole was released from the socket without the need for road closures or excavation. At the time the damaged power cable was removed and replaced.

With the new traffi c signal pole ready the cable is fed from the socket into the pole. The operatives then position the pole onto a ColumnMATE and completed the cabling safely from ground level before inserting the pole into the Retention Socket.

By installing traffi c signals in Retention Sockets allows the local authority to remove, replace and re-cable damaged poles in the same day with no requirement for costly civils works and minimal disruption to road users.
