TFL met with the technical team at NAL to discuss the need to remove a permanent street light due to the major Crossrail Redevelopment works in Paddington, along Praed Street and Eastbourne Terrace. A temporary lighting column would be required to illuminate the area, along with a secure footprint to enable a supply of power.
NAL provided a Temporary Foundation, produced in line with TFL’s specifi cation, manufactured with 4 certifi ed, removable lifting points along with forklift lifting voids, to simplify transportation and storage. To house the column, an RS168 Retention Socket with duckfoot bend was set into the concrete block, allowing ducting to be fed from underground, directly up to the column.
On completion of the project, installation of the lighting column within a retention socket, ensures its swift and straightforward removal. The foundation itself, can be transported into storage to be utilised elsewhere, impacting signifi cantly in reducing costs for future projects.
