News - NAL TEST SHALLOW RETENTION SOCKETS

NAL prove shallow foundations at Mira Testing...

Traditionally when planting columns to overcome services or shallow depths a cranked root has been used.

Now there is a better way and NAL have proved that a 300mm deep (220mm planting) Bridgedeck Retention Socket installed to EN40 is a totally re-usable foundation.

Demonstrated at Mira’s testing facility in September 2011, a 10 metre steel column was installed in a RS193 x 300mm deep Retention Socket. A saloon car was driven into the column at 50Kph The column was damaged but remained in the Retention Socket. The column was then removed manually and there was no damage to the Retention Socket or the foundation, ensuring that another column could be installed immediately.

In conclusion, our tests proved that the Retention Socket absorbs the impact therefor a smaller EN40 foundation when used with a NAL Retention Socket is a re-usable foundation.
