The SIS SOLO (Pillar) has been designed and Patented (Pat. GB2435557B) to provide complete electrical isolation to individual structures, or individual circuits feeding multiple structures within 0.2 seconds of impact. This complies with EN12767, which requires disconnection within 0.4 seconds. Each electrically powered structure is fitted with a SIS impact sensor. This sensor is a completely mechanical device which requires no external power and as such draws no current. The Sensor is connected to the SIS Solo (Pillar) unit. This unit is housed in a standard IP65 distribution enclosure within a local feeder pillar. The SIS SOLO (Pillar) unit comprises of a Din rail mounted bespoke monitor unit, miniature circuit breakers and a shunt trip. The entire unit takes up five consecutive ways on a standard distribution panel. On activation of the impact sensor, the monitor board will operate the shunt trip operating the attached isolation devices, therefore rendering the structure, or circuit completely voltage free. The monitor unit is fitted with outputs which can be used to indicate SIS activation to a remote monitoring system. This entire operation is guaranteed to be completed in under 0.2 seconds. This system has been successfully installed on numerous passively safe schemes throughout the UK. Please contact us for more detailed information.
